Year-long Texas drug sting results in numerous arrests

The police in Texas have been working on a drug operation for more than a year, and it has finally come to an end. The Galveston County Sheriff’s Department has announced that it made a full 14 different arrests as a result of the sting. Those arrests were related to narcotics, though the charges did vary. Above and beyond those 14 arrests, there are 10 others against whom charges were leveled.

The police said that the residents in Dickinson started the whole thing when they began to complain about a house, which they called “The Yard,” that was over on Avenue B. The complaints were for all manner of drug-related activities. The police worked that angle, and it in turn took them to a home on 24th Street, where some drugs were allegedly being purchased.

The first arrest that the police made was of a man who is 38 years old. Reportedly, he had 7.7 grams of cocaine on his person at the time of the arrest. They took him to the Galveston County Jail, and then they went to his house and raided it as well, coming up with six more grams of cocaine, more than two dozen ecstasy pills and just under 14 grams of pot.

Another man, who is 21 years old, was found at the home, allegedly with drugs, and he was also arrested. Following those two initial arrests, police moved on others who were reportedly involved and brought in a dozen more people, many on charges for both creating and distributing drugs.

Those charged with drug crimes at either the state or the federal level still have a right to a fair trial where all evidence will be carefully considered.
