When you’re working with children or students in Texas, it’s important that you’re trusted and that your image is preserved. A soiled reputation can cost you the respect of peers, and you shouldn’t have to worry about your reputation being ruined because of false accusations. If you’re accused of sexual offenses, it’s important to know that you have the right to a fair and impartial trial.

Take for instance this teacher’s assistant’s case that may head to court in the future. He has been accused of having a sexual relationship with a student who is only 16 years old. The 50-year-old teacher’s assistant has not admitted to the crime, according to the article, but the student claims she had a relationship for at least six months. She did not call the relationship assault or make statements to say the relationship was unwanted, if it actually took place.

The police reported that the teen’s mother discovered the relationship between the man and her daughter, but it’s not clear how she allegedly discovered this. The man has now been charged with two counts of sexual assault and is being held in lieu of a bail of $50,000. The teacher’s assistant works at the Sunset High, and the school did not make a comment in the news release.

This man may have to be concerned about being put on leave or having his job taken away from him, but that’s unfair if he has yet to be found guilty of any crimes. If you find yourself in a similar situation, you may want to speak with someone who understands how important it is to protect your job, family and reputation.
