When You Are Up Against A Criminal Charge, You Need A Tough And Seasoned Defense Attorney On Your Side

Drug possession, parole violation among charges for Dallas man

First-time offenders and career criminals alike are entitled to a vigorous defense when facing criminal charges. Regardless of guilt or innocence, an individual who has been arrested on charges such as drug possession has rights that need to be protected throughout the process. Law enforcement officers will do their jobs according to standard procedures, but they are not exempt from making mistakes. A suspect needs a clear understanding of his rights and options when facing allegations that could lead to jail time.

According to reports, bonds totaling $85,000 are presently holding a Dallas man in county jail. He was arrested when sheriff’s department agents executed a search warrant at his home. The narcotics team had obtained the warrant when it was determined a previous arrest warrant for the manufacture and delivery of cocaine was outstanding.

The search warrant turned up about 12.7 ounces of crack cocaine in his possession, along with over $2,000 in cash. A sheriff’s department spokesman stated further inspection revealed he was actually manufacturing the drug at the home.

The 33-year-old’s legal position is made more complicated by an outstanding parole violation warrant. In 2009, he had been convicted on assault charges in Dallas County.

The penalties this suspect will face may be serious, with long-term consequences. All criminal charges don’t lead to trial, however. Once a careful evaluation of the police investigation and evidence is made, negotiations for lesser charges may be effective. A criminal background and multiple arrest warrants can require finely-tuned strategies and defenses. But, even for a first-time offender, experienced dealings with prosecutors can help when striving for a positive outcome.
