According to police in Dallas, Texas, a man is grabbing money out of cash registers across the city. The man allegedly stole $160 from a Walgreens on Dec. 6 and over $700 from a register at a Dollar General on Dec. 7. The man is also suspected of five other robberies that were committed in the same manner.

Police have video of some of the robberies. A man can be seen making small purchases in each store. He pays with cash and waits for the cashier to access the register drawer for change. The man then reaches over the counter to pilfer the register drawer, running away with whatever he can grab.

According to police, other robberies have taken place at Dollar General and Family Dollar locations, as well as one Taco Bell. They say the man has even returned to rob the same store. During one robbery, the man told a store employee that he was committing the thefts because he needed the money.

Police have made the video public and released a description of the suspect. According to police, the black man is approximately 30 to 35 years old. He weighs around 200 pounds and is about 5 feet, 7 inches in height. The man tends to purchase items such as toilet paper or small food items prior to the theft.

When police make the public part of the search for a suspect, it can result in a faster arrest. It can also result in the wrong person being accused of a crime as various witnesses and tipsters become involved in the search process. When someone faces charges for a crime he or she didn’t commit, a strong criminal defense is essential to guarding reputation and freedom.
