You’ve heard it before: there are at least two sides to every story. But the old adage may be especially fitting in cases of alleged assault. A dispute arises between two individuals, and exactly what happened becomes a matter of investigation. Not everyone who is accused of assault is guilty, and often a criminal defense attorney has to take a closer look at the evidence to get down to the actual facts.
This may end up being the case after a recent confrontation involving former football star Deion Sanders. He is accused of assaulting an administrator at the Dallas school Sanders co-founded. Police were investigating whether or not a confrontation at a faculty meeting led to an assault.
Sanders denies breaking any laws. He did say, however, that a confrontation did happen, but he characterized the dispute as two men arguing over school-related matters.
Dallas police took statements from the man who says he was assaulted. He was reportedly taken to a hospital, where he said his back, hip and throat were sore. The man claimed that Sanders grabbed him and pushed him against a wall.
Other people in the room reportedly broke up the altercation.
Sanders has already spoken publicly and tweeted about the allegations. He claims the administrator is a “fake” and only wants Sanders’ money.
The football star went on to say that essentially he was only trying provide a top-notch education for the students at Prime Prep Academy, and Sanders claims the administrator wasn’t doing his job.
Dallas and Fort Worth residents may want to follow the case as more details emerge.
