Being accused of child pornography or Internet solicitation is a very serious allegation. There are reasons why your interactions online may put you in this position without you knowing it; maybe the person on the other end is lying about his or her age, or perhaps you thought you’d scare a child who was trying to meet up with a stranger by showing up and talking about the dangers of his or her actions. Nineteen people have been arrested in Fort Bend on allegations of child pornography. According to the news from June 22, a sting performed by police led to the arrests of the men. They have been charged with child pornography and solicitation of a minor.
The news reports that the operation was performed as part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce initiative, and the Katy ISD Police Department was on hand to help with the arrests. One of the men charged was a 55-year-old man who was found working at a children’s clothing donation drop site. He’s been accused of communicating improperly with a child and has been jailed for the online solicitation of a child.
Another man, 34, is a volunteer firefighter. He came to the area for work-related training. Before he arrived, he had communicated with an agent, one he believed was a child, and arranged to meet her while he was in town training. He has now been charged with the attempted sexual assault of a child and for online solicitation.
